We are looking for an experienced Art Conservator and Restorer with a passion for preserving artwork of all kinds. The ideal individual will possess a keen eye for detail and excellence in craftsmanship, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the techniques, processes and materials used in conservation and restoration.
Responsibilities:
Inspect works of art to assess condition, determine appropriate conservation techniques, create written proposals and recommendations.
Research the history, provenance and paint materials associated with particular works of art; collaborate closely with curators, historians and collectors.
Execute general cleaning, reattachment, stabilization treatments and more complex painting restorations; document the conservation process through photographs taken at each step.
Prepare reports on the condition of paintings before treatment to establish their baseline value; prepare reports summarizing treatments upon completion.
Execute technical analysis prior to major treatments such as cleaning or repainting to identify original materials or uncover evidence of past treatments; document scientific analyzes in clear and concise reports
Adhere strictly to professional codes of ethics for conservators that cover issues.
